Ariel Zuckermann

Conductor Ariel Zuckermann is a musical free spirit and explorer of artistic boundaries. His knowledge of repertoire spanning all musical periods is reflected in ingenious and compelling programmes. His technical and musical standards, coupled with irrepressible creativity, energy and humanity, act as a magnet for orchestras, soloists and audiences alike.
In 2020, Zuckermann was appointed Principal Conductor of the Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt – a position he had already held before until 2013. He also enjoys close and regular collaborations with the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra which appointed him as First Guest Conductor for the 2023/2024 season. He was Music Director of the renowned Israel Chamber Orchestra from 2015-2023, and actively shaped and influenced the Israeli music scene and its cultural policy.
Originally a professional flautist, Zuckermann began his conducting career in 2001. Since then, he has conducted the London Symphony Orchestra, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Tonkünstler-Orchester, Sinfonietta Riga, Bayerisches Staatsorchester, NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, Sinfonieorchester Basel, Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, Bremen Philharmonic, Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic, Bamberg Symphony, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria, Haydn Orchestra, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Symphony Orchestra, the Zurich, Basel and Stuttgart chamber orchestras and Camerata Salzburg. He made his opera début at the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich. Many of his concerts and projects have been recorded.
As a flautist, Zuckermann has won several prizes in national and international competitions. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician all over the world, including as a member of the renowned Swiss Klezmer band Kolsimcha–The World Quintet, with whom he has also made recordings, most recently with the London Symphony Orchestra.
Zuckermann first studied the flute with Paul Meisen and András Adorján at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München. Further studies followed with Alain Marion and Aurèle Nicolet. He began his conducting studies with Jorma Panula at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, and gained his conducting diploma with Bruno Weil at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München.
