Dear friends of Hong Kong Sinfonietta,
The palette of colours of our world seems to get darker and darker, so that we sometimes forget about the uncountable, beautiful bright colours which also exist. The wonderful thing about our sound palette is that in music, everything is always possible, and even the darkest moments are balanced with light and joy. Music has everything. It gives us energy, inspiration, happiness, entertainment, trust, and if necessary, consolation.
Our new season is an extremely colourful bouquet of compositions from many parts of the world, and we are very much looking forward to welcoming you to our concerts and sharing unforgettable moments with you. Great artists from many different countries will join us on stage, to create musical experiences which you will never forget.
We are very much looking forward to the collaboration with our new Artist Associates, Cy Leo and Daniel Chu – two outstanding musicians from Hong Kong, who give us the chance to widen our spectrum and sound palette of classical music.
One of the great events of the season is the 3rd Hong Kong International Conducting Competition, where we expect to welcome wonderful young conductors from all over the world, whom we will choose and invite from hundreds of applications. Don’t miss the rare chance to witness the moment when new star conductors are born!
As Music Director of Hong Kong Sinfonietta, I am not only enjoying every moment of making music with this wonderful orchestra, but also very happy to feel the strong, passionate and enthusiastic presence of the audience. We are the ones making music, but you are creating the incredibly intense and inspiring concert atmosphere.
