Alice Yeung (born 1999) is a sound and interdisciplinary composer and performer born and raised in Hong Kong, currently based in Den Haag, The Netherlands. She is keen on experimenting with new possibilities and approaches for the audience and performers within various dimensions, combining different colliding elements or music genres with friction and coherence. Her works range from orchestral music, electronic and chamber works for instruments, to experimental participation interdisciplinary works. She is currently initiating artistic research on the theme of surveillance art and audience participation, regarding online habit data tracking and daily-life privacy invasion based on her cultural background.
Yeung’s music has been featured in professional presentations across Europe and Asia such as Theater Münster, Muzički Biennale Zagreb, Dutch National Opera & Ballet, Gaudeamus Muziekweek, Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, November Music, Klangforum Wien, Orkest de Ereprijs, Les Percussions de Strasbourg, HERMESensemble, Residentie Orkest, Calefax Reed Quintet, Mivos Quartet, New European Ensemble, PROJECT21st, Ictus Ensemble, Ligeti Quartet, International Society for Contemporary Music, Hong Kong Composers’ Guild and Hong Kong Gaudeamus Dunhuang Ensemble, among others. Her work was selected as one of the recommended works in the Under-30 category of the 68th International Rostrum of Composers in Palermo, Italy, and won the New Composers Pitch Prize at the New Music Conference of November Music at ’s-Hertogenbosch in 2021.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in Composition and Electronic Music with First Class Honours in 2021, Yeung completed her master’s degree in Composition in 2023 at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague as a nominee of the Excellence Scholarship.
