Hsu Yu-chia

Hsu Yu-chia joined Hong Kong Sinfonietta in 2024. He has performed with numerous renowned orchestras including the New World Symphony, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, South Dakota Symphony Orchestra and Quad City Symphony Orchestra.
As a soloist, Hsu won First Prize at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music Concerto Competition, Japan Classical Music Competition, Schubert Club Competition and Mary West Solo Competition. He was also a prizewinner at the University of Minnesota Concerto Competition, Edvard Grieg Society of Minnesota String Competition, Thursday Musical Young Artist Scholarship Competition and Schlern International Music Festival Competition.
Hsu has participated in music festivals in the USA and abroad including the Bowdoin International Music Festival, 57th Weimar Master Class at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar, Pyeong Chang International Music Festival, Atlantic Music Festival and Taipei Music Academy and Festival. He has had the privilege to study and work with renowned artists such as Lin Cho-liang Lin, David Chan, Gerardo Ribeiro, Oleh Krysa, David Takeno, Pierre Amoyal, Eduard Grach, Daniel Phillips, Catherine Cho, Krzysztof Węgrzyn, Kurt Sassmannshaus and Clara-Jumi Kang, among others.
Hsu completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Minnesota, where he received full scholarship and served as teaching assistant to Sally O’Reilly. He completed his master’s degree at the New England Conservatory with Ayano Ninomiya, and his bachelor’s degree at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music with Zuo Jun.
