Born and raised in Hong Kong, Kaylie Lo is a 15-year-old emerging pianist whose artistic maturity and expressive sensitivity set her apart as a rising young talent. She began learning piano at the age of four and joined the Junior Music Program at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts at eight, where she continues to study under the dedicated mentorship of Steinway Artist Rachel Cheung.
Kaylie’s artistry has earned her an impressive list of accolades. At eight, she received the Championship and Hamamatsu City Mayor’s Award at the 23rd PIARA Piano Competition in Japan. She later earned First Prize at the 85th Steinway & Sons International Youth Piano Competition China Final (Amateur Group B) and placed among the top prize winners in the 87th and 89th Steinway International Youth Piano Competition in Hong Kong and & Macau Regions (Professional Group). In 2023, she was honored with the Gold Award, Young Musician Award, and Audience Award at the International Ponte Music Festival Concerto Competition. Most recently, in 2025, she expanded her performance horizons by winning the Under age 16 category of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta’s Auditions on Stage – Piano, , earning an upcoming engagement with the orchestra.
Her achievements on home soil are equally distinguished. Kaylie has garnered multiple top honors across the 74th to 77th Hong Kong Schools’ Music Festival, including the Piano Solo Junior Exhibitioner Award, Piano Concerto Group (Under age 13 and Under age 19), and the Tom Lee Music Piano Solo Scholarship. She was also an awardee of Grantham Music Award by the Hong Kong Schools Music and Speech Association.
Beyond performing, Kaylie actively contributes to her school community at St. Paul’s Co-educational College as Leader of the Pianists’ Chamber and a former member of the Program for the Musically Gifted. Her efforts have been recognized through the SPCC Young Talent Scholarship and the Sir Robert Black Trust Fund Grant for Talents in Non-Academic Fields in consecutive years. In 2025, she was admitted to the HKU Academy for the Talented, reflecting her commitment to both academic and artistic growth.
Kaylie’s musical perspectives have been enriched through masterclasses with world renowned musicians and educators, including Prof. Julian Jacobson, Prof. Eleanor Wong, Prof. Gabriel Kwok, Dr. Chang Tao, Warren Lee, Yury Shadrin, Filippo Gorini, Thomas Rosenkranz, Niu Niu, and Théo Fouchenneret. These encounters have deepened her understanding of stylistic nuance, interpretation, and pianistic versatility.
