Akiyo Uesugi
Acting Principal Flute

Akiyo Uesugi studied at Tokyo Metropolitan High School of Music and Fine Arts, Tokyo Gakugei University, Toho Gakuen College of Music and Royal Academy of Music, London. She has won the 2nd prize of Jonathan Myall Piccolo Prize, 3rd prize of All Flutes Plus Prize at Royal Academy of Music and 2nd prize of Albert Cooper Competition at Stratford International Flute Festival 2007. Akiyo regularly performs in Hong Kong and Japan as soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player. She has played as a freelance player with major orchestras including Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, Osaka Symphony Orchestra and Tokyo New City Orchestra. She is currently Hong Kong Sinfonietta’s flautist.
