Yiu-wing Chan joined the Hong Kong Sinfonietta as Principal Tuba since 2024, he has been a student of Professor Anne Jelle Visser at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZhdK) since 2021. He had completed the Master Degree in Music Performance (Concert Performance) under the support of Bernard Van Zuiden Music Fund, and currently studying in a Master Degree in Specialized Music Performance (Soloist).
During his time in Switzerland, he has been Tuba Praktikant with the Berner Symphonieorchester (2022-2023). In addition, he performed with Philharmonia Zürich, Sinfonieorchester Liechtenstein, Verbier Festival Orchestra and Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra. He had performed under the baton of renowned conductors such as Gianandrea Noseda, Charles Dutoit, Krzysztof Urbański, Markus Stenz and Marc Albrecht.
Wing started learning tuba at the age of 13 with Mr. Lam Wing Tsan and plays in the symphonic band in P.L.K. No.1 Cheung College in Hong Kong. After finishing his studies in secondary school, he continued his study with Mr. Lam in Hong Kong Baptist University, with a Bachelor Degree in Tuba Performance and Pedagogy, graduated with “First-class Honour”. He also studied with renowned tuba players including Roland Szentpali, Sergio Carolino, Tim Buzbee, Paul Luxenberg, Mike Forbes and Charles Villarrubia.click to download images
