Christina Bean studied at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester before attending the Royal Northern College of Music, where she obtained a BMus (Hons) degree and International Artist Diploma in String Leadership. She also studied at Birmingham Conservatoire with Robin Ireland.
During her time studying, Bean took part in the London Sinfonietta Academy, London Philharmonic’s Foyle Future Firsts Development Programme and The Hallé String Leadership Scheme.
Before joining the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Bean worked as a freelance musician with orchestras around Britain, including The Hallé, BBC Philharmonic, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and The Orchestra of the Swan. She also worked as a musician with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon.
