A graduate of HKAPA, Lau Sum-yin is currently Assistant Viola Principal of Hong Kong Sinfonietta. He was a member of the Asian Youth Orchestra from 1997 to 2000 and toured with the orchestra to China, Japan, Europe and USA. Lau has also played in the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra in Germany and the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra in Sapporo under the baton of Riccardo Muti. He is also a dedicated viola teacher and conducts school orchestras.
