Antoine Glatard
Conductor
Winner of the 2nd Prize at the First Hong Kong International Conducting Competition, French conductor Antoine Glatard also won the 3rd Prize at the Polycarpe Foundation Competition – The International Opera Conductors Competition in 2017 and the 2nd and Special Jury Prizes at the International Conducting Competition Jeunesses Musicales Bucharest in 2013. In April 2018, he became a semi-finalist at the International Malko Competition in Copenhagen.
Glatard joined Orchestre National de Lyon as Resident Conductor in 2015, assisting Leonard Slatkin until early 2017. During this time he conducted the orchestra’s New Year’s concert Rêve de Cirque and Olivier Penard’s musical tale Peter Pan. In 2015, he was appointed Music Director of Orchestre des Jeunes de l’Orchestre National de Lyon and held the position through the 2017/2018 season. As Associate Conductor of Opéra de Rouen Normandie in 2016/2017, he conducted its production of La Bohème and the orchestra’s concerts. In 2014/2015, he was Assistant Conductor of the symphonic season of Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels.
As a guest conductor, Glatard has conducted Orchestre de l’Opéra de Toulon, Orchestre National de Metz, Orchestre de l’Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège and Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, among others. In 2015, he conducted La Bohème at Verbier Festival and Orchestre Symphonie de Mulhouse at Colmar’s Festival Les Musicales. Upcoming engagements include La Traviata at Théâtre Etréchy and concert with Orchestre National de Lyon.
As an assistant conductor in opera productions, Glatard works frequently in such opera houses as Opéra Comique de Paris, Opéra de Monte-Carlo and Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège. Operas he has prepared included such standard repertoire as Così Fan Tutte, Don Giovanni, Manon, The Rake’s Progress and Die Fledermaus, as well as the world premières of Philippe Boesmans’ Au Monde and Benoît Mernier’s La Dispute.
Born in 1984, Antoine Glatard studied composition, piano and clarinet before graduating from the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel with a master’s degree in Conducting with high distinction.
