Antoine Glatard

With his energetic and communicative enthusiasm, Antoine Glatard brings a welcome new blood to the new Generation of conductors. He has recently won the Third Prize at the 1st Concours Fondation Polycarpe, International Competition for Opera Conductors.

Resident conductor of Orchestre National de Lyon, Glatard is the assistant of Leonard Slatkin and the Musical Director of the Young Orchestras of the ONL Academy from September 2015 to November 2017. He is also Associate Conductor of Opéra de Rouen Normandie for the 2016/2017 season. In this capacity, he performs with the orchestra at various concerts and works on four operas (Cosi Fan Tutte, The Rake’s Progress, Luca Francesconi’s Quartett and La Bohème).

Glatard conducted Don Giovanni in Charleroi, at the head of Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège (ORWL), and Mato Franceschini’s Opera Milo & Maya also with ORWL. The Orchestre National de Lyon invited him for his new year programme (“Rêves de cirque”) and the direction of the musical tale Peter Pan (Olivier Penard), given at the Auditorium. He was also invited to conduct La Bohème at the Verbier Festival in summer 2015.

In 2014/2015, Glatard met Orchestre Symphonique et Lyrique de Nancy for series of educational concerts with a Mendelssohn-Poulenc program.

He made his début at Orchestre symphonique de Mulhouse at Musicales de Colmar festival, with the Kielce Philharmonic in Poland.

He was also the Assistant Conductor of the symphonic season of Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie of Brussels where he worked with Ludovic Morlot, Kazushi Ono, Härtmut Haenchen, Daniel Kawka, Michael Boder and Frank Beermann.

Glatard has worked on two world premières at Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie: Phillippe Boesmans’ opera, Au Monde and Benoît Mernier’s La Dispute.

Born in 1984, composer, pianist and clarinettist, Antoine Glatard devoted himself to orchestral conducting at Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel and obtained his Master’s degree with high distinction.
