Che Man-wai
Double Bass

Che Man-wai is a virtuosic double bassist passionate in experimenting and challenging the solo boundary of the instrument. He is a pioneer of his ergonomic approach to the bass, and the only one performing many violin works such as Bach’s Chaconne and Paganini’s Caprices on the bass as written. He received his Bachelor’s degree from The Juilliard School, Master’s degree from Stony Brook University, and Artist Certificate from North Texas University. As an active teacher/performer, he is currently Bass Faculty at Molloy College and Mahanaim Educational Institute, as well as a teaching artist at six music schools and artist-in-residence at two senior high schools. He has given lectures, masterclasses and performances in universities, TEDx talks, museums, music festivals and corporate events. As a transdisciplinary artist, Che likes to experiment with cross-genre works where he combines his vocal percussion with bass playing, music technologies, prestidigitation and visual arts.
