Fan Hiu-sing
Violin
Winner of Hong Kong Sinfonietta’s “Auditions On Stage – Violin” in 2022, as well as the New York International Artists Violin Competition, Adelphi Chamber Orchestra Concerto Competition, and Musicus Society’s Young Artist Audition in 2021, Fan Hiu-sing established himself as one of the eminent young rising stars on the international concert stage.
Fan has performed at acclaimed music festivals internationally such as the Verbier Festival, Marvão International Academy for Music, Verão Clássico Festival, NUME Academy Festival and Great Mountains Music Festival. He has had the privilege of collaborating with and receiving guidance from luminaries of the classical music field including Leonidas Kavakos, Itzhak Perlman, Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, Vadim Repin, Augustin Hadelich, Steven Isserlis, Kristóf Baráti, Gábor Takács-Nagy, Donald Weilerstein, Aaron Rosand, the Quatuor Ébène and Emerson Quartet.
The 2023/2024 season marks Fan’s solo début with Camerata Salzburg and Hong Kong Sinfonietta, as well as performing as Guest Concertmaster with the Cologne Chamber Orchestra.
Born in Hong Kong, Fan began violin lessons at the age of four. He was the beneficiary of the Cordelia Lee Beattie Foundation Scholarship, and the Betty and Daniel Bloomfield Fund Scholarship while at the Juilliard School, where he earned his bachelor’s degree studying under Hyo Kang and I-Hao Lee, before moving on to further studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München with Julia Fischer, Christoph Poppen, Lena Neudauer and Veronika Eberle. As a recipient of the Eckstein Scholarship, he is presently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree under the mentorship of Gerardo Ribeiro at the Bienen School of Music, Northwestern University.
