Kelvin Mak studied at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), majoring in Contemporary Dance. He completed the Gifted Young Dance Programme at HKAPA and received several scholarships during his studies. He has also participated in various local and overseas dance competitions before joining City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC) in 2013.
Mak’s choreograph includes Lies in Waiting v.1 (2015), Echoes Within (CCDC “2016 Dancers’ Homework”), Made in (E-side Dance Company’s “Contemporary Dance Showcase: Asian – Male Episode 7”), and Lies in Waiting (CCDC “2017 Dancers’ Homework”). Mak received the Hong Kong Dance Award 2017 for “Outstanding Performance by a Male Dancer” (Mother, I am Sorry); he was also nominated for this award in 2016 with his outstanding performance in Soledad.
