NOĒMA
Chamber Choir

NOĒMA is a leading professional choir in Hong Kong. Dedicated to advancing the local choral landscape and comprising some of its finest musicians, the ensemble has established itself as one of the city’s premier artistic forces under the dynamic leadership of Artistic Director Sanders Lau, who founded the choir in 2022. Recent highlights include collaborations with internationally renowned vocal ensembles Tenebrae, and Vox Luminis with their Artistic Director Lionel Meunier, bringing world-class choral artistry to Hong Kong audiences.

NOĒMA has performed to critical acclaim, with invitations from eminent presenters including HKU MUSE, Tai Kwun, and the Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF). Its sold-out cross-disciplinary production Garden of Repose at the HKAF was shortlisted for the 2024 Classical:NEXT Innovation Award.

NOĒMA’s ethos is centred on applying ideals of rhetoric, the art of persuasion, to its performances, always exploring and harnessing the expressive landscape in its repertoire. It is known for innovative and thought-provoking programming, creating dialogues among music, poetry, and spirituality and reaffirming the relevance of choral art in contemporary society.

2026 highlights include an exciting new initiative in July, the NOĒMA Institute of Vocal Artistry (NIVA), and two unique multidisciplinary theatrical productions, namely Song from FAR Away || FAR Away from Song (directed by theatre maker artist Ivanhoe Lam), and Songs of Being, a co-creation among composer Daniel Lo, media artist Keith Lam, and Sanders Lau. The ensemble has previously collaborated with artists such as the Cong Quartet, composers Adrian Wong, Chris Cheung, and set designer Ruby Law. Committed to nurturing the next generation of singers, NOĒMA works closely with the HKU Chamber Singers and serves as a supporting organisation of the Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival.
