Senri Kawaguchi

Born in Aichi Prefecture, Japan in 1997, Senri Kawaguchi started playing drums at the age of five and studied under Kozo Suganuma from the age of eight. Now widely recognised as one of the world’s top drummers, she has amassed more than 40 million views on YouTube.

In 2013, at the age of 16, Kawaguchi released her début album A LA MODE. In 2014, she released her second album Buena Vista, which was recorded in Los Angeles. In 2015, she released the live DVD Senri Kawaguchi Live Tour 2014 “Buena Vista”.

In 2016, Kawaguchi released her long-awaited first major label album CIDER ~Hard & Sweet~, produced by Philippe Saisse and recorded in Los Angeles. In the same year, she performed at the Tokyo Jazz Festival with the recording members of that album. In 2017, she released the live DVD & Blu-ray SENRI KAWAGUCHI TRIANGLE LIVE IN YOKOHAMA 2017. The performance was named “Best Live Performance of 2017” by the magazine JAZZ JAPAN. In 2020, she released her second major label album Dynamogenic.

Kawaguchi is currently active both domestically and internationally, participating in Japan tours of overseas musicians such as Gergő Borlai, Alphonso Johnson and Eric Marienthal, as well as performing in live concerts and studio work.
