Currently President of Fujian Opera Dance and Drama Theatre, Director of Fujian Folk Music and Symphony Exchange Centre, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Opera Research Society and member of the Chinese Musicians Association, Sun Li is a renowned vocalist in China. A student of respected pedagogue Guo Shu-zhen, he has collaborated with numerous orchestras both at home and abroad.
As part of a cultural exchange initiative, Sun sang Ping in Turandot in Egypt. In 2008, he toured with the China National Opera in six cities in the USA, performing in Farewell My Concubine, and won a Wenhua Performance Award in 2010 for this role.
