Uku Joller
Bass

Graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, Uku Joller performed as a soloist with the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir (EPCC) in 1989-1993 in many large-scale compositions, for instance Bach’s Mass in B minor, St John Passion and St Matthew Passion, Handel’s Messiah, Judas Maccabaeus, Saul, Jephtha and Israel in Egypt, Haydn’s Harmoniemesse, Pärt’s Passio, Tüür’s Ante Finem Saeculi, etc. He has also performed in Britten’s Curlew River at the Tallinn City Theatre, Haydn’s L’Isola Disabitata at the Nargen Opera, Rossini’s Stabat Mater with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, and Bach’s St Matthew Passion in Jerusalem and at the European Capital of Culture 2009 Vilnius Festival.

In concerts and recording, he sang one of the leading parts of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with Tallinn Baroque Orchestra, as well as one of the solo parts in Vesperae et Litania by Mozart and Psalms by Vivaldi. More recently, he has performed at the annual Early Music Festival in Haapsalu, in Pärt’s author’s concert for Mezzo TV with EPCC and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, and in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with Vilnius Baroque Orchestra, among others.
