Hong Kong’s Home-grown Musicals: Another visit to yesteryear
“…just too good to miss.” The Prickle
Hong Kong Sinfonietta will provide live accompaniment to the performances of The Originals (Reimagined) on 16-18 Apr under the baton of Music Director Emeritus Yip Wing-sie.
Following the success of The Originals in October 2020, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will present The Originals (Reimagined) in April 2021, reprising some of the works from last year’s premiere and introducing a new selection for a new twist. The staging and costumes will be redesigned to give the production a fresh and yet familiar paint. The cast of eight accomplished singer-actors comprising established favourites and new talents, accompanied by the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, invite you all to walk through a journey of the history of Hong Kong musicals.
There will be excerpts from 1941 Girl!, Field of Dreams, Homo Superus, Snow·Wolf·Lake, The Border Town, A Beautiful Day, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Passage Beyond, Sing Out, When Snow Falls, Octave, and more.
